Paul Clement says Marcus Rashford "deceived" referee for penalty

Swansea boss Paul Clement says Manchester United's Marcus Rashford deceived the referee in winning a penalty during their 1-1 Premier League draw at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney scored from the spot to put United ahead - but Swansea dug in for a point.

"I looked at the reaction of my players first of all and they were furious about it," he said after yesterday's result.

"That puts a doubt in your mind whether it's the correct decision. Also, the delay between the contact - or non-contact - and the decision being given, there was a brief pause there which would indicate some doubt.

"Replays showed the player deceived the referee. There's no other way to look at it."

Swansea could have climbed out of the relegation places with a win and were within a whisker of all three points when Fernando Llorente missed a late chance.

"He's right in front of goal, he just didn't make that contact. Any kind of touch on that and it goes either side of the goalkeeper."

Clement remains confident his side can stay up, but knows how difficult it will be with games running out.

"We're playing better and there's still not a lot of football to be played.

"There's nine points to play for and two home games coming up. Who says we can't go win all three games."

He added: "We really showed a corner last week [against Stoke] and I think we've shown that again."
