Paul Dunne shares the lead at Alfred Dunhill Links Championship after spectacular professional debut

There were no first day jitters for Ireland's Paul Dunne as he made his professional debut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland yesterday.

The Irishman carded a 64, making for a score of eight-under, which included a spectacular hole in one on the 15th at Kingsbarns, which was the highlight of the day.

That gave him the lead, and he showed some cool nerves to finish on a birdie for the day (his eighth) from some distance off the green.

That performance left him with a share of the lead with Jimmy Mullen and Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg. Speaking after the event, he said of the hole-in-one that "I kind of needed it. I got off to a bit of a ropey start. I was hitting a lot of poor full shots. My putter was kind of saving me and it was nice to get a hole-in-one. It was exactly as I pictured it".

There was also a bit of celebrity spotting to be done too as Jamie Dornan took to the course at St. Andrews and showed that he may have learned a thing or two from fellow Hollywood man Rory McIlroy as he shot an eagle on the 18th.

Day two has gotten off to a windy start, with joint leader Mullen out on the course first.
