Paul Scholes wants Ryan Giggs to stay with Manchester United

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has said he hopes Ryan Giggs stays at the club when Jose Mourinho eventually takes over as manager.

Scholes played with Giggs throughout his Manchester United career and was also an assistant to the 42-year-old when the former Welsh international was caretaker manager at the end of the 2013-14 season.

"Hopefully he'll still be involved", Scholes said before competing in the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth. "He has great experience. He knows the club inside out."

"I think everybody involved with the club, the fans especially would love him to be involved in some way where it's assistant or just helping by being around the place... Hopefully he can be of assistance somehow."

Scholes was at Manchester United when Jose Mourinho arrived in English football and has seen how the Portuguese manager can transform teams. If and when Mourinho, is confirmed as Louis van Gaal's replacement, Scholes is expecting his reign to be a success.

"He's got the track record. He wins trophies. I think United fans will be happy if he can get players in how are likely to entertain, then the fans will be happy."

Giggs' future with the club remains unknown. He is expected to be offered a position under Mourinho, but is still unsure as to whether he will take it.
