Pearce Hanley commits to the Brisbane Lions until 2019

Mayo's Pearce Hanley has committed to another two years with the Brisbane Lions that will keep him in Australia until at least 2019.

The vice-captain signed the deal this morning along with team mates Stefan Martin and Mitch Robinson. “It’s a strong show of faith in the Lions that these guys  wanted to continue with this group and influence the direction our Club is heading,” Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football, Matt Francis told their website.

Hanley moved to Australia in 2007, and made his debut for the team a year later. He even featured last year for the player of the year, receiving four votes for the prestigious Brownlow Medal.

The Mayo native, has played International Rules for Ireland, but was not part of the team that beat Australia last month. The 27-year-old played for his native county before making the move to Australia.
