Peter O'Mahony to make significant step back towards Munster return

Peter O'Mahony returns to modified training with Munster this week.

The flanker has stepped up his return to action after almost a year after the knee injury that he suffered at the Rugby World Cup against France.

The 27-year-old was hoping to be back on the pitch by this point in the season, but new head Coach Rassie Erasmus had already indicated that he has got no intention of rushing the player back into the fray.

"I am hoping to play somewhere around [games] two, three, four," O'Mahony had said at the end of August regarding his planned return date.

The original injury occurred when the Cork native tore his cruciate ligament during Ireland's 2015 Rugby World Cup win over France.
