Pulis surprised at Rondon to Barcelona speculation

West Brom boss Tony Pulis has expressed his surprise that striker Salomon Rondon has been linked with Barcelona.

Some media reports have suggested the forward will be a target for the Catalan giants at the end of the season.

The Venezuelan was also linked with the move last summer, although nothing came of it.

But Pulis was a bit surprised by the suggestion when it was put to him at a press conference before the Baggies play Leicester City on Saturday.

"That's the first I've heard of that," he said.

"He's had other issues that have affected the boy during the season especially after Christmas - this stuff that at times can affect players. His family is a long way away."

The 27 year old has made 33 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring seven times.

That includes a hat-trick against Swansea in December when he became only the second player since former Everton centre forward Duncan Ferguson to score a hat trick of headers in the Premier League.

However, that is the last time he has scored in the Premier League this season.

Last season the Venezuelan, who had signed from Zenit St Petersburg, scored nine league goals for West Brom.
