Rashad Evans pulled from UFC 205 bout

The UFC 205 card has suffered its first casualty.

Former UFC Light-Heavyweight champion Rashad Evans has been pulled from his fight against Tim Kennedy due to medical reasons. The two men were scheduled to fight in the Fox Sports section of the Preliminary Card.

In a statement released by UFC, the organisation confirmed that Evans was deemed unfit to compete due to a "medical issue". There are no plans in place to replace the fight.

"I'm healthy", Evans told MMAFighting.com. I don't want anyone worrying about me. I'm fine, physically speaking. Never felt better. It's just the commission and their rules. I guess they have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to this."

Both Evans and Kennedy will be paid in full for the fight, along with their promised win bonuses. The cancelled fight, may prove to be the end of Tim Kennedy's career. He reportedly was planning to retire after the Madison Square Garden bout.

Despite the disappointing news, Kennedy praised the role of the UFC in handling what was a messy situation.  He still hopes somebody will step up at the last moment to take the fight.
