Robbie Brady free kick stops Chelsea in their tracks

Ireland midfielder Robbie Brady scored an excellent free kick to help Burnley hold Premier League leaders Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in their Sunday afternoon clash at Turf Moor.

Chelsea had the chance to go 12 points clear of Tottenham and Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, following Spurs' Saturday evening setback at Liverpool.

And it appeared to be going the way of Antonio Conte's side.

After just seven minutes, a sweeping move from the London side concluded with Chelsea winger Pedro finding the net.

But Burnley's January signing Brady, who started the match alongside fellow Ireland international Stephen Ward, would make an impact just 17 minutes later.

After Burnley won a free kick outside the Chelsea box, Brady stepped up and curled the set piece straight into the back of the net to make it 1-1.

Neither side would score again - indeed the away side didn't get a shot on target in the second '45 - and while Chelsea missed out on the chance to stretch their Premier League lead to 12 points, they now hold a 10 point advantage over their nearest challengers and remain odds on to win the title.

On his free kick, Brady played down the moment when he spoke to Sky Sports at full time.

"I'm lucky enough it went in because I didn't have the best of games," said the 25 year old.

"I'm glad it went in and managed to get us a point in the end, so fantastic."
