Robbie Brady the big winner at FAI Awards

Ireland midfielder Robbie Brady has picked up a haul of three awards at the FAI Awards.

The Burnley player enjoyed a clean sweep on the night with the most prestigious award being the FAI Senior International Player of the Year gong for a 2016 in which he was pivotal as the Boys in Green reached the Euro 2016 knockout stages and also started the 2018 World Cup qualification campaign in strong fashion.

The 25 year old beat Ireland captain Seamus Coleman and Burnley and childhood team-mate Jeff Hendrick to the award.

Brady also won the International Goal of the Year award for his memorable late headed winner against Italy in the final group match at Euro 2016. That goal beat the James McClean winner against Austria in Vienna from last November and Wes Hoolahan's opener against Sweden at the Euros.

Brady also won the Young International Player of the Year award, beating Shane Duffy and Hendrick to the gong.

The Senior International Women's Player of the Year is Karen Duggan who had been nominated alongside team-mates Aine O'Gorman and Stephanie Roche.

The Men's Under-21 Player of the Year went to winger Callum O'Dowda who has since been capped for the Ireland senior setup under Martin O'Neill.

At club level, ex-Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan won the SSE Airtricity League Player of the Year award ahead of fellow former Dundalk and now Preston colleague Andy Boyle and Cork City's prolific striker Sean Maguire.

Ireland record goalscorer and ex-international captain Robbie Keane was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his achievements.

Meanwhile, ex-Wales and Celtic striker John Hartson was named International Personality of the Year.
