The British and Irish Lions won't go into their second rugby union Test with New Zealand on the back of a morale-boosting win.

They let a 14-point lead slip to draw 31-31 with Super Rugby champions the Hurricanes in Wellington.

Several fringe players may have forced their way into the 23 to face the All Blacks on Saturday, when they'll try to overturn a 1-0 series deficit.

Captain for the day Rory Best told Sky Sports, it wasn't a bad performance.

"We'll be very frustrated," he said. "But having said that, to build to leads the way we did at this stage of the tour in potentially the last game for a lot of us was positive.

"We've got to look at the positives. I don't think you can fault the effort. We maybe fell down in our composure and could have been a little bit more clinical at times."

He added: "They're the Super Rugby champions and a very good side, but we'll look back at the mistakes that let them back into it and be very frustrated."

Best also gave his view on the Iain Henderson sin bin, which led to the tourists conceding two tries in quick succession to tie the game.

"It's touch and go, but obviously if you're being officiated by a quality referee like Romain [Poite] who takes his time and goes to the TMO - you have to trust that these guys get it right.

"The frustrating thing is that we had the penalty advantage, but Hendy was absolutely fabulous tonight and you could tell he was frustrated by that small error.

"It was made bigger that a yellow card cost us that many points."
