Rory McIlroy is now eight shots off the lead at the WGC-HSBC Champions after a spurt of poor shooting between the 11th and 15th in round three.
McIlroy was just four adrift of the lead after hitting a third birdie on the par-five eighth hole, but followed it up with three bogeys which cost him a few places on the leaderboard. He recovered the situation somewhat with further birdies on the 16th and 18th hole but finished the day on nine under to leave him in joint eighth place alongside Shane Lowry.
Meanwhile, Japan's number 10 Hideki Matsuyama is still on course to become the first Asian to win a World Golf Championships event after hitting an impressive 19 birdies, to card a 17-under par 68 and sits three clear of Russell Knox.
