Roy Jones Jr. wants to fight MMA legend Anderson Silva

As Conor McGregor's potential fight with Floyd Mayweather inches closer, a legendary boxer is hoping to fight another star of the UFC.

He may be in the final stages of his career, but Roy Jones Jr. has told TMZ Sports that he wants to fight MMA legend Anderson Silva. The two men are a combined age of 90.

Jones made his professional debut 28 years ago, but he still thinks he has what it takes to fight the Brazilian. After a spell on the sidelines due to a drugs ban, Silva has returned to the UFC and won his first fight in almost four-and-a-half years in February.

"It’s an event people want to see. That's why I tried to do it with Anderson. It's an event that everyone wants to see", Jones revealed.

"[Silva] still says he wants to [fight]. If Dana White gives him the grace to it, of course we can still fight. We dont have to do it on the [Mayweather-McGregor] undercard. We can do our own thing."

While reports of a potential Mayweather-McGregor fight continues to linger, Jones can only see one winner, and that's Mayweather.

"Boxing has the advantage. They are boxing. [McGregor] is a name of MMA, not at boxing. So it gives boxing somewhat of an advantage. But it’s an event that everyone wants to see."
