"That's the kind of character that can win a Six Nations" - Tommy Bowe on Ireland's forwards

After a nail-biting finish to Ireland's opening Six Nations fixture against France, Tommy Bowe has praised the side's forward for the side's victory.

With the clock having already gone past the 80th minute mark and the score at 13-12 to the home side, Leinster's Johnny Sexton stepped up to hit a stadium stunning drop goal to secure a 15-13 victory for Ireland.

Ulster winger and former Irish international Tommy Bowe was speaking after the game on Off The Ball Live at the Aviva Fan Studio, and he not only praised the drop goal, but the cross field kick that was collected by Keith Earls as Ireland's attack looked to be stagnating in their own half.

"For Sexton to put that cross field kick in, that takes balls to do that to do in such a tight situation".

"It's easy, you can try it, but to actually execute it and for Earls to come steaming onto it. And Vakatawa could have easily taken him out in the air, yellow card, kick at goal. So they ran the risk, but it paid off for them".

Bowe was quick to share the glory off the win with the Irish forwards though, as he believes that they were what put Sexton in the position to give Ireland the win, and showed the kind of character he believes a team needs to win a Six Nations.

"Credit to the forwards, to keep getting up off the ground, the backs stand out wide and they maybe took a few of those, but to get up off the ground, to take it forward, to get up off the ground, take it forward when you just think you've nothing left".

"Come the video review on Monday that'll be what Joe will show. That's the sort of character that can win a Six Nations".
