Multiple Olympic swimming champion Ryan Lochte has been banned from competing for the USA in domestic and international events for 10 months.

He will miss the 2017 World Championships.

Lochte is accused of inventing a story about being robbed at gunpoint during a night out at the Rio Games - which he denies - but does say he left details out.

CCTV appears to show Lochte and three team-mates vandalising part of a petrol station.

The other swimmers have been given four-month suspensions.

"The behaviour of these athletes was not acceptable. It unfairly maligned our hosts and diverted attention away from the historic achievements of Team USA, "said US Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun.
