Santa impersonator in Manchester changes costume following complaints from irate City fans

A Santa impersonator based near the home stadium of Manchester City, has changed his costume to incorporate the blue colours of their club following complaints from aggrieved fans.

When it comes to football in Manchester, you can only have allegiances to either United or City. But since Santa provides a service that reaches a global community, the Red Devils and City Blues will have to share the jolly St Nick.

But it seems that City fans feel that appearing in photos alongside the man in the Big Red suit would dishonour the legacy of their club, meaning that something would have to be done to ensure that they don't feel excluded.

And an Asda store based near City’s Etihad Stadium is doing their bit to make City fans feel more at ease, while also preventing any situations flaring up that could result in soccer fans from either camp, getting their names on the naughty list.

The new bespoke made Santa costume contains an equal spread of red and blue on the suit with a dash of white separating the two. This measure should hopefully be enough to encourage everyone to pose for photos with Santa while also maintaining peaceful relations between the opposing neighbours over the festive period.

An added feature of Santa’s service will allow shoppers to ask Santa to turn to one side, thus shunning the colours of their rivals to ensure that it is a snap that supports their own club.

According to Santa’s supervisor in Asda, the City fans aired their grievances of discrimination in a joking manner. Still though, best not to take any chances that could be interpreted as a violation of anyone’s human rights.

But with today's scoreline currently reading 2-0 in Stoke City's favour, perhaps the City fans should think twice before getting greedy again.

The burning question now remains as to whether or not the Santas in Glasgow or London will have to adopt the same approach to this one in Manchester in order to quell any quarrels among passionate soccer fans from neighbouring clubs.
