It's only February but Chelsea may well have the Premier League title wrapped up after their closest challengers slipped up.

Tottenham went into Saturday's game with Liverpool at Anfield nine points behind the runaway leaders, needing a win to put a small bit of pressure on Chelsea who play at Burnley on Sunday.

Liverpool hadn't won a match in 2017 but flew out of the blocks as Sadio Mane struck twice in the first twenty minutes to give the Anfield side a lead they never looked like relinquishing.

Spurs looked disjointed from the get-go and never imposed their game on Jurgen Klopp's men. Spurs stay in second for the time being although could drop to third if Man City win at Bournemouth on Monday night.

Liverpool, despite a poor January, are now only a point behind the Londoners.

Southampton's new striker Manolo Gabbiadini scored twice in his second appearance for the club as they trashed Sunderland 4-0.

An own goal from Jason Denayer and a late strike from Ireland's Shane Long sealed the win and moved the Saints nine points clear of the drop zone.

Long might have his work cut out trying to force his way back into the starting line-up with the Italian's red hot form.

It was all hands on deck for Arsenal today as they recorded a handy home win over Hull.

Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring with a controversial effort which rebounded off his hand and into the net. The officials, like Arsene Wenger, didn't see the incident and the goal stood.

Hull made a game of it and came close on a number of occasions but couldn't get past Petr Cech in the Arsenal goal.

The home side were then awarded a penalty late on for handball and Sanchez duly converted from the spot to give Arsenal heir first win after back-to-back defeats.
