Seamus Coleman admits Martin O'Neill gave the Irish team a half-time "rollicking" against Georgia

Seamus Coleman admits manager Martin O'Neill gave the Ireland team an earful at half-time in their World Cup qualifier against Georgia.

On a personal level for the captain, he scored his first international goal for his country.

But the team performance left a lot to be desired as the Boys in Green laboured to a 1-0 win at the Aviva Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Coleman said that Martin O'Neill had let the team know in no uncertain terms that they needed to improve massively in the second half.

"We felt relieved [after the first half] because we should have been 1-0 down. We were poor and the manager let us know that we were poor and gave us a bit of a rollicking at half-time, which we deserved," he said.

"As a performance it wasn't great but we have three points."

As for why Ireland were so poor in the first half especially, the Everton right-back said it was a mix of issues.

"We stood off them a little bit too much, gave them a little bit too much respect when we had the ball and probably didn't give each other enough angles and the manager let us know that at half-time," he said.
