Seamus Power will play on the PGA Tour next year

Irish Olympian Seamus Power will compete on the PGA Tour next year.

The Waterford native, who featured for Ireland during the Rio Games earlier this month and tied for 15th in the Olympic golf tournament, finished ninth on the Web.com tour money list for 2016.

The 29-year-old earned $209,590 in prize money this year and completed his tour in Oregon this week at the Portland Open, finishing tied for 11th.

The top 25 players on the tour earn a spot on the PGA Tour and are given the opportunity to play with some of the world's finest golfers including Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day and Jordan Spieth.
