Serena Williams given a championship belt after Australian Open win

Serena Williams made history on Saturday afternoon by winning the 23rd Grand Slam title of her career.

Her win over sister Venus in straight-sets, broke Steffi Graf's record of 22 Grand Slams in the Open Era. Williams now lies one major win behind Margaret Court's record of 24. The Australian won her record haul in both the amateur and professional eras of the sport.

After Williams win, the gifts have been flooding in for the 35-year-old. She was given customised pairs of runners from Michael Jordan after the triumph, but it's another gift that may give Williams an unexpected surprise.

The Los Angeles native has been given a personalised WWE Championship belt by the company for her achievements. It come personalised with "Serena Williams - 23-time Grand Slam champion".

It is an unusual niche that the WWE have cultivated for themselves, by awarding sporting teams a championship belt. Recent awardees include the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Cavaliers, after they won the World Series and NBA Finals respectively.

Williams is the first individual to be awarded the personalised belt. The US Open even argued that the new World number one should pick up the belt at a WWE event.
