Seven-year-old is "top contender" for the job as Inverness manager

Citing the experience he has gained to date by attending "Hot Shots courses" and the fact that he now plays for his school's football team, young Ewen noted that the there was a vacancy at the club at the moment and wanted to put himself forward to fill the role.

Manager John Hughes left the Caledonian Stadium last week, just a year after leading them to their first ever major trophy in the Scottish Cup final.

The club have published Ewen's hand-written letter on their website and say he could be a "top contender" for the post.

Learning from the mistakes of other managers, Ewen isn't going to rush in making big changes however, as he says he'd pick current forward Richie Foran as his assistant to help him settle in to the hot seat.

To allay any concerns that there might be over balancing his schoolwork with the demands of top-level football management, Ewen added that he can speak to his headmaster and "see if he would be up for letting me leave school early for important matches and training".
