Sexton and Murray boosts ahead of Ireland vs England

Jonathan Sexton and Conor Murray have both been passed fit for Ireland's final Six Nations clash against England.

Joe Schmidt's side welcome the Grand Slam-chasing English to Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Saturday, March 18th.

Winning the championship is already out of reach for Ireland, with England on 18 points compared to the Irish haul of 10.

But the bid to preserve Ireland's Top 4 placing in the world rankings with the 2019 World Cup pool draw in mind means victory over England has its own level of importance.

With that in mind, the availability of half-back duo Sexton and Murray is a boost for Schmidt and the Ireland setup.

The Irish management team say Murray is responding well to treatment following the shoulder injury he sustained in the loss to Wales.

The Munster No 9 suffered the injury in the first half, consequently hampering his passing and contributing to his withdrawal early in the second half with Kieran Marmion coming on in his place.

Sexton meanwhile has cleared the Head Injury Assessment protocols.

However, experienced Ulster wing Tommy Bowe will see a specialist regarding a potential leg fracture and has been replaced in the squad by Leinster's Fergus McFadden.
