Shane Lowry has lost his final group match at golf's WGC Dell Technologies World Matchplay in Texas.

The Offaly golfer had been two up with four to play but lost out to Kevin Chappell on the final hole, who finished 1-up.

With three victories from three, Jon Rahm won the Irishman's group with a 6&4 victory over fellow Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia.

Rory McIlroy halved his match against Emiliano Grillo but had already been eliminated prior to teeing off.

The Northern Irishman did not hold the lead at any point during the match-up, although he managed to level the scores with two holes to play.

Both McIlroy and Lowry exit the competition at the group stage.

Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark who was the lowest seed in McIlroy's group, ended up topping it with three wins from three as USA's Gary Woodland had withdrawn prior to his final match.
