Simon Zebo to miss the next month for Munster with a fractured rib

Munster have been hit with an early season blow as Simon Zebo looks set to miss the next five weeks of the season.

Zebo fractured a rib in Munster's opening round Pro12 win over Scarlets in Wales. The Ireland international was replaced inside the first 20 minutes by Ian Keatley.

The rib injury means that Zebo will miss matches against Cardiff Blues, Newport Gwent Dragons, Edinburgh and Zebre. He is also a doubt for Munster's opening Champions Cup game, away to Racing 92.

While Zebo is to miss five weeks, his teammate Kevin O'Byrne may not feature until December. The hooker injured his elbow in the final minutes of the win in Wales.

On the back of Zebo's injury news, along with injuries to Francis Saili and Sammy Arnold, Munster have announced the short-term loan signing of South African international Jaco Taute.

The 25-year-old has joined on a four-year deal. Taute has played three times for South Africa, including an appearance against Ireland in 2012. Taute's arrival in Limerick is subject to a work permit.
