Sligo Rovers have revealed the identity of their new manager

Sligo Rovers have appointed ex-Leicester City and Sheffield United boss Micky Adams as the club's new manager.

The League of Ireland Premier Division side have also named former Nottingham Forest defender Alan Rogers as Adams' assistant and confirmed that the duo will take charge of the team with immediate effect.

Sligo have been operating under a caretaker management team made up of ex-player Joseph N'Do and Gavin Dykes since the club parted ways with former boss Owen Heary in June.

In a statement, Rovers said: "The club hopes the new management team will provide the badly needed stability, boost to morale and improved results. We are a community-owned club: The Showgrounds is in the heart of Sligo and our combined efforts have built what is the best League of Ireland venue in the country. The club's voluntary management committee remains committed to providing a team and a style of football that bring pride to our region. We hope that we can all unite as we begin our journey back to the top of Irish football."
