Sligo Rovers have signed former Arsenal youth team player Philip Roberts ahead of the new League of Ireland season.

The London-born striker has been capped at under-19 and under-17 level for Ireland, becoming eligible through his mother who hails from Co Roscommon.

The 21-year-old came through the Arsenal academy, having signed from Norwich in 2010, before going out on loan to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the 2012-13 season.

Roberts has since played for Dundee and Falkirk in Scotland after his release by Arsenal.
