Niall Kelly and Kieran Cunningham were the guests on Off the Ball's Sunday Paper Review to analyse the big talking points from the week.
A study into concussive blows in League of Ireland football revealed some startling findings.
"I guess concussion has become part of the general conversation - it seems that we're discussing it more often than not at the moment," Niall Kelly told Joe Molloy, "but this was something that was actually 'news' and it's Colin Coyle on page five of the Sunday Times.
"The headline, "Football is heading for trouble" - Concussion rife among League of Ireland players as experts call for greater awareness about long-term health risks - and it's a research project by UCD.
"More than 15% of players in the top two divisions in the League of Ireland suffered a concussion during one season - the first study into concussion in Irish footballers found.
"Concussion rates were higher among defenders and 40% of those who suffered a trauma were not stopped from training or playing in a competitive match.
"So this is the first, and I think, 149 footballers they had took part in this which is a fairly decent sample size for League of Ireland with its 20 clubs.
"And I guess this continues on a theme we've seen a lot of in recent weeks and it follows on from Kevin Doyle who obviously been very vocal about his reasons for retiring and the health implications that playing football has had for him over the last few years or Alan Shearer's powerful documentary before Christmas and it's carrying on.
"And, I guess, concussion...has become a much greater talking point," he added.
