Hunter says Mourinho will use Rashford and Martial centrally next season

Graham Hunter says Jose Mourinho will use Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in central striking positions next season, if he remains in charge at the Lancashire club.

It’s been a tough week for the Portuguese manager as his side crashed out to Sevilla in the last-16 of the Champions League.

Hunter speaking on this morning’s OTB AM believes Mourinho will remain in charge of the club next season, and say he 'knows' the former Inter Milan boss will make positional adjustments with his strikers.

“One thing I know, for a fact. If Mourinho is in charge next season, he wants to use Rashford, and Martial. If he’s there, centrally.”

Rashford and Martial are currently being used in wide positions by their manager. Hunter says the United boss is aware that Rashford’s best position is to play as a central striker.

“Mourinho knows that Rashford’s proper position is central. Maybe not number nine but that position you just described. If Mourinho is in charge, or whoever is in charge next season, building that team."

Hunter believes the best partner for Lukaku in a central position would be Rashford. The 20-year-old Mancunian has featured prominently in Mourinho's side this season.

"If Lukaku is the nine, the guy who most regularly plays beside him, or off him, or beside him, is Rashford - I think that is right,’ said Hunter.

Hunter says young players are put in wide positions so they can mature into playing in a more central roles. Something he believes Mourhino will implement with his young strikers, next season.
