"I've got every reason to believe that Arsenal will actually put in a really good performance"

Even though Arsenal came out on top against Chelsea in the FA Cup final and Community Shield, most people would favour the Blues to win on Sunday given the problems and sense of crisis that always seems to be hovering around Arsenal these days.

Both sides go into the game at Stamford Bridge, having rested most of their key performers for the midweek wins in Europe.

And although ex-Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson is not optimistic about his former side's prospects this season, he does see the potential for an excellent one off performance by Arsene Wenger's side.

"It could get worse," he told Nathan of the current situation at Arsenal.

"But you know with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, every time he's under a little bit of pressure,, they go and get a good win or a good performance.

"Bournemouth almost fell into their laps last week, didn't they? They'd had a terrible display against Liverpool, they'd had the really frustrating transfer window and then they get Bournemouth who are really struggling and didn't put in a performance at all. They beat Cologne which was a reasonable performance and Cologne aren't a great side.

"Now the test will be tomorrow against Chelsea and I've got every reason to believe that Arsenal will actually put in a really good performance. They beat Chelsea three out of the last four occasions, the Community Shield, the FA Cup and at the Emirates 3-0 last year."

On why Arsenal have enjoyed more positive results against Chelsea of late, Robson suggested that the Gunners' system "matches up well" against Chelsea's similar three at the back system and that Chelsea appeared to be "a bit complacent against Arsenal" in the last couple of head to heads, pointing out the slow tempo and that "Arsenal started the Chelsea games quicker than the other games".
