Sports Illustrated have made their predictions for each of this year's Olympic events and based on their look-ahead, Ireland will return home with two gold medals.

The US magazine has tipped Katie Taylor to successfully defender her London 2012 gold, while they also have fellow boxer Michael Conlan to also win the men's 56k category.

Elsewhere their projected medal count has boxers Paddy Barnes (bronze), Michael O'Reilly (silver), Joe Ward (silver) and golfer Padraig Harrington (bronze) as medal winners in 2016.

That's a grand total of six medals which is the same as London 2012, expect for one extra gold and an extra silver.

As for other nations, they predict the USA to top the medal table with 45 golds from a total of 118 medals, ahead of China, Russia and Great Britain.
