Dundalk return to Europa League action on Thursday night when the Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg arrive in Tallaght.

Zenit were the second-ranked team in the tournament ahead of the Europa League draw, putting them ahead of the likes of Manchester United, Villarreal and Inter Milan. On the other hand, Dundalk were the lowest-ranked team to make the group stages.

Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast on Thursday morning ahead of the game, Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny said his team "can top two leagues tonight if we beat Zenit". Kenny added that there was a "massive incentive for us to do that".

"Zenit really are an outstanding team. They have just turned down €20million for Axel Witzel, from Juventus I believe. You can see why to be fair. They have 19 internationals... They have won this competition and they will be fancied to win it again. They really should be in the Champions League".

"You can't get immersed in that. You have to realise it's 11 v 11. We played well against AZ and Maccabi in the previous games and we can take confidence from that".

Dundalk are seven points clear at home in the Premier Division with three games left. They could win the league on Sunday, with a win at home to Bohemians, but Kenny refuses to believe the third title in a row is guaranteed.

"We haven't won anything yet. That's genuinely how we feel. We have an opportunity to win the league on Sunday night in Oriel Park... We certainly don't feel we have won anything yet."

With four points from two games, Dundalk have already exceeded all expectations. A positive result against Zenit could be one of he greatest in the history of Irish football.
