Sunday Night Takeaway: Wins for Germany and England

Northern Ireland beat Norway 2-0

England recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Lithuania at Wembley to take another step towards qualification to the World Cup in Russia.

Goals from the returning Jermain Defoe and Jamie Vardy gave Gareth Southgate's men another three points and a four point cushion over Slovakia.

In the same group, a late Chris Martin goal gave Scotland a much needed win over Slovenia to keep them in the hunt for a play-off place.

Northern Ireland recorded an impressive 2-0 win against Norway at Windsor Park to keep on the tails of group leaders Germany.

Goals from Conor Washington and Jamie Ward gave Michael O'Neill's men all three points. Earlier in Group C, world champions Germany recorded a 4-1 away to Azerbaijan while the Czech Republic put six past San Marino.

Elsewhere, Armenia beat Kazakhstan 2-0; Poland beat Montonegro 2-1; Denmark and Romania finished 0-0 while Slovakia beat Malta 3-1.
