Round up: Goals galore in Sunday's GAA action

There was a packed schedule of action in both codes as the early season GAA matches continued apace this Sunday.

In the O'Byrne Cup, the Round 3 action saw All Ireland champions Dublin defeat Wexford 1-12 to 1-9 in Enniscorthy to set up a semi final contest against Kildare.

Meanwhile, Kildare enjoyed a commanding 3-11 to 0-8 victory over Offaly at O'Connor Park to advance to that last four fixture.

In an all university tie, DCU came out on top against UCD by a 0-18 to 1-9 scoreline.

Elswhere, Longford overcame IT Carlow in a nine goal show, 5-11 to 4-6, Wicklow fell to defeat to DIT by a 1-7 to 1-10 result and Westmeath beat Maynooth University 2-19 to 3-10.

Louth's 3-14 to 2-12 victory over Carlow rounded out the O'Byrne Cup action.

Louth will now face rivals Meath in the other O'Bryne Cup semi final.

In Munster, the McGrath Cup action saw Kerry and Cork go head to head with the Kingdom prevailing 1-13 to 1-9 in Mallow.

Kerry will now take on Limerick in the final after the latter edged Waterford narrowly 0-9 to 0-7.

The FBD League in Connacht saw All Ireland runners up Mayo see off IT Sligo 1-21 to 1-15, while reigning Connacht champions Galway made light work of Leitrim, securing a dominant 5-21 to 0-9 result in Ballinamore. 

Sligo also scored five goals as they hammered GMIT 5-24 to 0-1. Roscommon, meanwhile, were up against GMIT and earned a win by 1-17 to 0-14.

In Ulster's McKenna Cup, the results panned out as follows:

Down 0-15 Derry 0-14

Armagh 2-19 Queens 0-9

Antrim 0-9 Monaghan 2-20

Fermanagh 2-13 St Mary's 0-13

Tyrone 2-17 UUJ 1-7

Donegal 1-6 Cavan 2-14

In hurling, Kilkenny scored six goals in their Walsh Cup clash against Antrim, winning 6-27 to 0-19. Davy Fitzgerald's Wexford defeated Carlow 3-20 to 0-14 at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Pick of the other results saw Offaly and IT Carlow draw 3-14 to 0-23 in Birr.

In the second round, Munster Senior Hurling League, Cork scored seven goals in a 7-22 to 1-19 triumph over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

Clare defeated Kerry by a comfortable 2-24 to 1-15 scoreline.
