It hasn't been the most encouraging seasons for Sunderland under Sam Allardyce.

A victory over Everton during the week, however, was enough to secure a place for themseleves in the Premier League next season.

More importantly, perhaps, that victory condemned their bitter rivals Newcastle to the Championship and they used the last game of the season at St.James Park to rub it in.

Newcastle won the game 5-1 against Spurs but a group of Sunderland fans hired a plane to fly over the stadium during the match that said "Auf Wiedersehen Prem Tyne To Go".
