Team Sky's Chris Froome rammed off bike in France by 'impatient driver'

Team Sky rider Chris Froome has said he has been 'deliberately' rammed off his bike while out cycling in southern France.

The three-time Tour de France winner posted a picture of his mangled bike on Twitter.

He wrote: "Just got rammed on purpose by an impatient driver who followed me onto the pavement!

"Thankfully I'm okay Bike totaled. Driver kept going!"

Sky News understands Froome intends to report the incident to the police.

The 31-year-old, who has an OBE for his services to British cycling, was training in Beausoleil, which is situated close to his home in Monaco.

He said he escaped the incident unhurt.

Sir Bradley Wiggins suffered a broken rib when he was involved in a collision with a van hear his home in Eccleston, Lancashire, in November 2012.

He retired from cycling at the end of last year after nearly 20 years in the sport, winning five Olympic gold medals and the 2012 Tour de France.
