"That's For Dad"- The stand out performances from Ireland v South Africa

Ireland stormed to victory against South Africa in Cape Town today, but who among Joe Schmidt's charges were the biggest contributors to the victory?

Paddy Jackson

Losing Johnny Sexton to injury is never an ideal situation but Ulster's Paddy Jackson proved to be a sufficiently competent substitute today. His return from deadball situations was strong and Peter-Steph du Toit's interception for a second half try, was the result of the South African's perfectly timed run more so than any carelessness on Jackson's behalf.

And it was his mental fortitude that was most impressive. Within seconds of that incident, Jackson found the courage to for a drop goal, but the accuracy was just lacking in the end.

Andrew Trimble

Carried the ball comfortably today and played a key role in Ireland's defence. When South Africa were pressing to break through Ireland's fortress in the second half, Andrew Trimble maintained a strong defensive position to force South Africa to bundle the ball forward and gift a scrum to Ireland.

Devin Toner

The Leinster man was forced to withdraw from the Pro12 final against Connacht following the sudden passing of his father. And as he was being awarded the man-of-the match award today, the second-row player dedicated the accolade to his father. "That's for Dad," he said before slipping away from sight.

He landed a crucial turnover when South Africa were trying to penetrate the defences and was typically industrious throughout.
