The Dutch look set to travel to Dublin in May ahead of Euro 2016

Ireland look set to play the Netherlands next May in their final home game before Euro 2016.

The Irish Independent have this morning reported that Danny Blind's side are to travel to Dublin to take part in Ireland's farewell game before the tournament in France. The Dutch are the biggest side not to reach the tournament after a disastrous qualification campaign.

The Oranje are already scheduled to face France and England in March as countries around Europe are trying to arrange friendlies with the team that finished in third place at the 2014 World Cup.

It will be the first time the Dutch will play in the renovated Lansdowne Road venue. The last time the two sides met was a friendly in 2006, with the Netherlands won 4-0 in Dublin. At the time it was Ireland's worst home defeat in 40 years.

Martin O'Neill's side will also play Switzerland and Slovakia in March as part of the Euro 2016 preparations. Those games take place over Easter on March 25th and 29th.
