The IRFU are hoping to agree a deal to get Ian Madigan to move to Munster

Ian Madigan's future with Leinster continues to be in doubt, but despite interest from abroad the IRFU are hoping that they can get him to stay in Ireland.

According to The Irish Times, the IRFU are hoping that Madigan will switch provinces and head to Munster instead of going to one of a number of clubs abroad that expressed interest in signing the 26-year-old.

The Leinster back is out of contract in the summer and is believed to be on the radar for Championship side Bristol in a big money move, while Bordeaux and Harlequins are also said to be interested.

The Times detail that Bristol's offer is believed to be worth somewhere in the region of €500,000 a season, and that the IRFU would need to attempt to match that offer to keep him in the country.

Elsewhere, there's bad news on the injury front for Ireland ahead of the Six nations also, as Ulster have confirmed that Iain Henderson suffered a significant hamstring tear in Friday's Pro 12 win over Edinburgh
