Rory McIlroy accepts that there are still tweaks that need to be made to his swing after an opening round 71 at the French Open this afternoon.
The 27-year-old said he has "four or five" swing thoughts ahead of tomorrow's round but that there is progress being made on his technique and execution.
"I'm sort of happy with 71 with how much I'm focusing on my golf swing and my technique," he told European Tour.com.
"My left-hand grip is too strong, takeaway was going on the inside, wasn't holding my right elbow properly at the top of my swing, wasn't getting my right knee out of the way on the down-swing. I've been working on a few things.
"Michael [Bannon, swing coach] and I have done a good bit of work over the last few days, trying to bed some stuff in. It will take a while but I was encouraged with some of the shots I hit out there today.
"I was joking with my friends at the weekend: I've got 17 swing thoughts down to about five, so I'm doing okay. Try to get that to two next week.

The Holywood golfer picked up three birdies in his opening six holes, including back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15.
This was offset, however, after finding he water on 13 for a bogey and another dropped shot on 16 brought him back to one under par.
Around the turn, three pars followed by a bogey on four sent him back to level par. A birdie on five and a bogey on seven saw him go into the final holes slightly shaky but he then produced this excellent par save on 18 to keep will well in the hunt going into the second round.

"There was a little bit of adventure in there, four bogeys, four birdies," he said. "There was quite a few good shots in there which I was pleased with, a few loose ones, as well.
"It was tricky out there, the conditions, with the wind. The greens have dried up a little bit since the start of the week, so conditions are not that easy out there.
"I think anything in the 60s today is a good score."
