'There's an element of a witchhunt towards Matt' - Hogan on Leinster

With just two rounds to go in the European Rugby Champions Cup pool stage, the Irish sides have a tough task to make it into the last-8.

Best placed so far are Leinster after the narrowest of wins over Harlequins which leaves them second in Pool 2.

The province have endured criticism but tonight Trevor Hogan said they should be cut some slack.

"You have to remind yourself that they actually won. There's a gloominess around about the Leinster result, way more so than Munster who were equally lucky to get that bonus. But I think Leinster deserve as much credit for getting out of jail because they were staring down a serious barrel. There's an element of a witchhunt developing which I'm a bit uncomfortable with towards Matt. I don't think it stacks up," said Trevor, who believes that targeted criticism of coaches becomes too much like Premier League soccer.

Grenoble head coach Bernard Jackman also joined us tonight to review the weekend's games and he also agreed that Leinster head coach O'Connor is "getting it from all angles" as murmuring grows about Leinster's form.

He also believes that Leinster have remedied to improve some issues by lining up Jonny Sexton to return next season, adding that losing the Ireland No 10, Brian O'Driscoll and Isa Nacewa would naturally hamper creativity.

The lads also analysed Munster's bonus point defeat to Clermont and Bernard saw some good things for Anthony Foley's side.

"I thought tactically and technically Munster were excellent. I just thought Clermont's flair and ability in open field was just on a different level. They're a joy to watch."
