Mossy Quinn and James Horan joined Off The Ball this evening to look forward to the weekend's three gaelic matches.
We started with the curtain-raiser tomorrow between Tyrone and Armagh, which Dave McIntyre highlighted as a strong contender to be the game of the weekend.
James shared his enthusiasm and believes it will be a fascinating encounter. He thinks that Tyrone have been efficient but untested so far this summer - while Armagh have been building momentum throughout the Championship.
Horan told Dave that they will "relish the challenge" of taking on this Tyrone team.
Meanwhile, Mossy highlighted the attention which Jamie Clarke is likely to attract from defenders and stressed that Armagh's other forwards will need to do damage:
"There’s a pressure on other Armagh forwards to step up," he concluded.
Peaking
Moving on to the encounter between Dublin and Monaghan, James expects a big showing from the Oriel County:
"They need to be aggressive, strong, playing as well as they can, huge movement, huge energy, strong tackling, all those things. We haven’t seen that really from Monaghan at quarter final stages ... this for me is their chance of taking down the biggest of them all."
The conversation soon moved to kick-out strategies and whether Monaghan should challenge Cluxton's restarts.
"I don’t know if you can be successful against Dublin if you concede every kick out," Quinn commented, adding that Monaghan will need to alternate between pressing and sitting back to minimise the chance of defenders being pulled out of position.
Mossy also believes that this Dublin team remains a work in progress and he expects a stronger performance than the Leinster final without the team hitting its peak.
Take Two
While Dublin might not show their full hand, Horan believes that Mayo will, as they remain in survival mode on Monday.
He described their performances to date as, "very up and down," and said the county needs to start showing some consistency to see off Roscommon and launch a serious bid to win the All Ireland.
