Tiger Woods to play on the European Tour for the first time since 2014

After returning to golf at the start of last month, it looks like Tiger Woods is going to try and make up for lost time in 2017.

Up until December's Hero World Challenge, Woods had not played for over a year as he overcame back injuries. He performed much better than expected in The Bahamas, and at one point in the second round, he looked like contending to win the event.

Since his return, Woods confirmed he was to play at the Genesis Open, a tournament his Foundation will host, but he has since added more tournaments to what looks like will be a busy schedule.

On Wednesday night it was confirmed he will play the Farmers Insurance Open later this month, along with the Honda Classic in March. That means he has committed to playing in at least one PGA Tour event in each of the first three months of the year.

Woods' return to the European Tour was revealed on Thursday morning. 'Mac Daddy Santa' will play in his first regular European Tour event in three years, when he tees off at the Dubai Desert Classic. He is a two-time winner of the event.

By committing to four events in the first three months of the year, the 14-time major winner looks like he is on the road to recovery, after numerous injury setbacks. His appearance at Torrey Pines may also finally give Shane Lowry the chance to play with the former World number one.
