Tom Daley says green water in Rio 2016 diving pool makes things "easier"

The green colouration of the water in the diving pool at Rio 2016 has generated plenty of scrutiny.

But British diver Tom Daley claims that it makes diving easier.

Alkaline levels are being blamed for the change in colour from blue to green at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre in Rio.

Olympic officials have also insisted the green water wasn't a health risk.

And Daley, who won bronze in the Men's synchronized 10 metre platform alongside Daniel Goodfellow, has no issues with it - indeed he sees an upside.

"We've been told the green water is completely safe," he told Press Association Sport.

"It's slightly strange to look at, with the water polo pool being crystal clear but the diving pool green. But it actually does make it easier for us to dive because normally, when you're spinning, it's difficult to see which way is up when the sky and water are both blue. So when it's green, it does make it slightly easier. It's nice and warm, too."
