Tommy Fleetwood wins Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship as Paul Dunne falters

Tommy Fleetwood has won the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship by one shot.

He carded a third round 67 - which included three birdies and an eagle on the back nine - as he beat US Open champion Dustin Johnson and Spain's Pablo Larrazabal by one shot.

Speaking afterwards Fleetwood said: "It's pretty cool really. I didn't see it coming. I think I've made the cut here once in six years, so it just shows that it makes no sense at all. A lot of hard work has gone into it.

"I started the season well in Hong Kong, and I didn't really want to stop but you have a month off for Christmas and you don't really do much and you never know quite how you're going to come out and play.

"I got two good rounds under my belt Thursday and Friday and I played well over the weekend, but you never know what quite to expect," he added.

It was a disappointing day for Ireland's Paul Dunne, who posted a final round total of 77 as he finished on four-under for the tournament.

The Irishman had started the final day four shots off the lead, but carded three straight bogeys from the fifth hole as his challenge faded away.
