Towell has left for England, but for Dundalk it's good news on the Daryl Horgan front

Dundalk have announced that Daryl Horgan has signed a new contract with the League of Ireland champions.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been a key man for the club since joining from Cork City in 2013, scoring 11 times in 41 appearances as the Louth side achieved the double.

Due to his talents and performances, there has been speculation over Horgan's future but those have been put to bed.

"I love it up here and it’s a great place to be. We had a great year here, adding to the 2014 season as well which is great, we won everything so we are looking to go all out again and win what we can," he told dundalkfc.com.

"We want to replicate the form we’ve had this year, we were brilliant the whole season and we just want to continue that now."

The news is a boost for manager Stephen Kenny in a week when last season's top scorer Richie Towell's move to Brighton was confirmed.
