Twins face each other in O'Connor Cup final as UL look for third successive title

Louise and Nicola Ward from Galway will have to put their sister connections aside tomorrow when the pair face each other in the Ladies Football colleges final.

Following respective wins over DCU and UCC today, University of Limerick and UCD have qualified for the final of the O'Connor Cup in Tralee this weekend. And while the acquisition of silverware will be the primary objective, family bragging rights will also be up for contention between two sisters.

Louise Ward will line out for UL in the final, while her twin sister Nicola will stand alongside the UCD opposition, which is sure to make this game an interesting prospect.

In relation to today's semi-finals, Clare's Niamh O'Dea hit two goals for UL as they grounded out a 3-4 to 1-8 win over DCU, a side who they defeated in the final last year. Should they win in Tralee tomorrow, this will be their third consecutive O'Connor Cup title.

Standing in their way however, is a UCD side who will be hoping to win their first O'Connor Cup title in 10 years, as well as emulate the feats of the men's team who just recently captured the Sigerson Cup.
