Two-time Olympic champion Nicola Adams has joined the professional ranks.

The 34-year-old, who defended her flyweight title last year in Rio de Janeiro has followed in the footsteps of Katie Taylor and Claressa Shields in leaving the amateur game. She will make her debut on April 8th in Manchester.

Adams' announcement means that the three Olympic champions from London 2012 have now joined the paid ranks. France's Estelle Mossely is now the only Olympic boxing champion left in the amateur game.

The Leeds fighter, who has also won gold medals at World, European and Commonwealth level. She joins Frank Warren Promotions, meaning she and Taylor will be battling to be the biggest name in women's boxing in Britain. Taylor is currently promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sports.

Like Taylor, Adams is hoping to become a World Champion as quickly as possible. She feels by joining Frank Warren's stable, she is in the right hands to achieve that.

"Together we can help take woman’s boxing to a new levels and I can’t wait to get to get in the ring in April and start working towards becoming a World Champion one day."
