Tyson Fury announces retirement from boxing

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has retired from boxing after reports he tested positive for cocaine.

He made the announcement in a message on Twitter: "Boxing is the saddest thing I ever took part in, all a pile of ****, I'm the greatest, & I'm also retired, so go suck a ****, happy days."

The 28-year-old, who holds the WBA and WBO world titles, was said to have been told on Thursday that a sample from a random urine test on 22 September had failed a drugs test.

He then pulled out of a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko citing mental health issues.

The boxer has not fought since taking Klitschko's IBF, WBA and WBO belts in a victory in Germany in November last year.

A rematch was initially booked for the summer only for Fury to pull out with an ankle injury, and the rescheduled October date was called off with the champ "medically unfit to fight".

The IBF title has been stripped and the other governing bodies are considering following suit after the allegations about his Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) conducted test.

A rematch was initially booked for the summer only for Fury to pull out with an ankle injury, and the rescheduled October 29 date was called off with the champ "medically unfit to fight".

Fury has won all 25 of his professional contests, with 18 stoppages.
