Tyson Fury anti-doping hearing 'still ongoing'

Tyson Fury's plans for a comeback to boxing have been delayed, as his UK anti-doping hearing is 'still ongoing,' according to the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith confirmed the status of Fury's hearing to Sky Sports, and says that a final verdict could take 'a long time' to determine.

The hearing into an alleged anti-doping violation began on Monday and Fury will also have to appear before the BBBofC before he can resume competitive boxing.

The former heavyweight champion vacated his WBO and WBA belts last year, and has not fought since defeating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

Fury recently said he was planning to make a comeback to the ring later this summer, with a view to taking on fellow British boxer Anthony Joshua next year.

28-year-old Fury was at a training camp in Spain prior to his hearing in preparation for his comeback, having previously taken a break from the sport to work through some mental health issues.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Smith of the BBBofC said:

"It's been adjourned to carry on later on. It's still ongoing and when they are in a position to give us any more information, they will."

"This is one of those legal cases where anything legal goes a long time. I'm not surprised, it's not unusual, it's obviously a complex case. I will expect a decision when I'm given it."
