Former UFC middleweight signs for Bellator MMA

Kevin Casey becomes the latest former UFC fighter to make the switch to rival promotion Bellator MMA, after signing a multi-year, multi-fight deal with the organisation.

The middleweight (9-5-1, 2 NC) was one of 13 cut from the roster but spent just two weeks unattached from any promotion before signing for Bellator.

The 35-year-old featured on the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter, as part of Team Sonnen. He was beaten by the late Josh Samman on his UFC debut in 2013 and quickly exited the company.

He earned a second run in the organisation in 2014 with a 1-2-1 record and recorded two No Contests. Casey also tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanolone in 2014 drug test.

The positive test came at UFC 175 in a fight that where he had beaten Bubba Bush in 61 seconds (via KO), but the result was overturned.

He is aiming to make his Bellator debut early in 2017, with a bout at Bellator 170, headlined by Chael Sonnen and Tito Ortiz, on the cards.
