Back at USA 94, the host nation's defender Alexi Lalas was the team's rock and roll presence - quite literally.

The former centre-back, who was famous for his long hair and goatee combo and also had a brief career in Serie A with Padova after that World Cup, was in a band called The Gypsies at the height of his career.

They even opened for Hootie & The Blowfish in the late '90s. The 45-year-old former LA Galaxy general manager has released numerous albums over the years and has just released a new LP appropriately called 'Shots'.
